Travel Blog - Australia, February & March 2019

In February 2018 (see dorky airport picture on left), I set out to Australia to visit one of my best friends from college, Erin, who was living on a pig farm in Tasmania. After seeing her in Tasmania, I went to the mainland for a few days, and then had to fly out of Sydney to return to NYC.

I loved traveling in Oz, and decided that a 10-day trip was not nearly long enough. So this year, 2019, I decided to travel around Australia for two months – in February and March. Soon, I will set out to circumnavigate the continent, traveling clockwise (with a stop in the middle to see Uluru), starting off in Melbourne. I’ll be posting about my Oz adventures from time to time, with a few pictures, too (more on IG @annemitchmcc). Thanks for reading and feel free to get in touch if you’re also traveling in Australia, or just have questions about future travel for yourself! (Reach me at annemitchellmccarthy@gmail.com)

But first, before Oz…a pit-stop in Beijing to see my journalist friend, David, whom I met at Cannes Film Festival last year at a press conference for Spike Lee’s “Blackkklansman.” I complimented David on his glittery blue nail polish. And we’ve been fast friends ever since.

After Beijing, it’ll be onto Hanoi for a few days, then the Oz adventure begins! Stay tuned.
